Gay Marriage

Gay marriage. This is one of those subjects that tend to make people mad no matter which way you go with it.

You know what? I'm okay with that.

I never even really understood why they would want marriage. It seems to me that, right now, they have what many of us straight men want: tangle-free relationships. If you and your partner don't work out, for whatever reason, you each just take your toys and go home. There is no divorce lawyers, no alimony, no getting screwed over by the court system.

Actually, I do understand the desire to be able to get married. It's all part of the 'greener grass' syndrome. Everybody believes that the 'other' guys have it better. If you don't have it, you want it. Even if you don't want it, you want it. I understand that, really I do.

I still don't care.

Of course, I don't think that marriage is anything the government should be regulating anyway, gay or straight. Marriage is a religious institution, not political.

My solution to the gay marriage 'problem' is simple; take the authority to approve marriages away from the government that should never have it in the first place and give it back to the churches. From there, it is simple. If you are gay and want to get married, then you go to a church that allows gay marriage. If you're not gay, then nothing changes for you.

See? Simple. Problem fixed, issue solved, enjoy. I'm glad I could help.
